Lillibell’s Cornbread

Aunt Lillibell always described herself as “the youngest and the prettiest” of the 5 Boggs girls. She laughed the loudest at off-color jokes, and always had a new batch to tell. She could also dance the Charleston and made the very best southern sour-cream cornbread.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup yellow corn meal
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 can cream corn
  • 1/2 cup corn oil

Step by Step Instructions

STEP 1
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Butter a casserole dish.

STEP 2
Stir together first 4 dry ingredients. Add next 4 wet ingredients and mix well with spoon.
STEP 3
Bake 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
